Markit Economics will announce May Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data. Manufacturing PMI in China rose from an 11-month low of 50.6 in March to 51.9 in April.

GERMANY UNEMPLOYMENT
TUESDAY 7:55AM

German Statistics Office will announce May unemployment rate data. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6% in April.

U.S. PMI
FRIDAY 1:45PM

Markit Economics will announce May Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data. U.S. manufacturing PMI stood at 61.5 in April.

U.S. UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
FRIDAY 12:30PM

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will announce May unemployment change data. Unemployment stood at 6.1% in April in the U.S. while the economy added 266,000 jobs.

DOMESTIC DATA

GDP Q1
MONDAY 10AM

Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will announce first quarter gross domestic product (GDP) growth. Turkey’s economy grew by 1.8% in 2020 while the GDP per capita stood at USD 8,599.

PMI
TUESDAY 10AM

Markit Economics will announce May Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data. PMI declined to 50.4 in April down from 52.6 in March.

FOREIGN TRADE STATISTICS
WEDNESDAY 10AM

Turkish Statistical Institute will announce May foreign trade statistics. Exports increased by 109.2% to USD 18.7bn while imports rose by 61.1% to USD 21.8bn in April, compared to the same month of the previous year.

CPI
FRIDAY 10AM

Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will announce May consumer price index (CPI) data. Consumer prices rose by 1.68% in April compared to the previous month while annual inflation stood at 17.14%.

ECO-POLITICS

CHP CENTRAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Republican People’s Party (CHP) Central Executive Board members are expected to gather on Monday with the participation of the party’s president Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

CABINET MEETING

Cabinet Members will gather on Monday to discuss the next steps regarding toward normalization. The members will listen to suggestions from the Scientific Advisory Board and discuss new measures. Cafes and restaurants are expected to open after June 1, while vaccinated people may be allowed to remove masks outdoors.

PARLIAMENTARY SESSION

The law proposal, regarding restructuring of receivables, especially tax and premium debts, will be on the agenda of the General Assembly next week. Tax and premium debts, motor vehicle tax, customs taxes, traffic fines and student loan debts will be restructured by April 30, 2021. The deadline for restructuring of debts is August 31, 2021.
