TOURISM INCOME DECREASED BY 65.1% IN 2020

Tourism income decreased by 65.1%, falling to USD 12.6bn in 2020 compared to the previous year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). Individual expenditures represented nearly USD 10bn of total tourism income while package tour expenditures generated USD 2.6bn. Meanwhile, the number of departing visitors declined to 15.8 million, a decrease of 69.5% in 2020, compared to the previous year. Tourism expenditures also declined by 74.9%, totaling USD 1.1bn of which USD 953.9m was individual expenditures and USD 150.7m was spent on package tours.
