Turkish Airlines (THY), the flag carrier of Turkey, has established a tech company named THY Teknoloji ve Bilisim AS with a goal to market its products globally. THY subsidiaries Turkish Cargo and Anadolujet will also continue their operations as separate companies. “We have separated these companies to enable faster growth and to make use of their potential for acquisition and partnerships,”said Ilker Ayci, THY CEO. Employing about 60,000 people, THY saved 53% in expenses in 2020, amounting to USD 1.1bn. The airline company climbed up the ranks to sixth in cargo transportation in 2020 and currently ranks third in the world for medical supplies transportation. In 2020, THY’s losses stood at around 10%, lower than other airlines that have experienced losses of around 50%.
