The automotive parts manufacturer Teklas will set up its second production plant in the Vranje province of Serbia, according to a statement from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic made during his visit to the company’s original facility in Vladicin Han. The second plant was formerly owned by an Italian company; Teklas will take over operation of the plant. The new facility will focus on production of cooling and heating systems, electrical and hybrid engines, as well as brake hoses. When the plant first opens, it will employ 250 people; by the end of the year, it aims to employ another 600. With these additions, Teklas’ total employment will exceed 1,600 people in Serbia and it will have 12 production plants, spanning six countries. The company’s first facility in Serbia employs 1,030 people and produces automotive parts for sector giants, including Volkswagen, Audi, PSA and Porsche. This year, Teklas also acquired a plant in the state of Georgia, in the U.S., with an investment of USD 6.5m.
