Samsung and Oppo are moving ahead with the partnership in a smartphone manufacturing facility in Turkey while changes to the import regime to ease their investment are continuing. The government paved the way for imports of partially-assembled components and parts used in mobile phone manufacturing on December 17 last year. Moreover, smart watches manufactured within the scope of the Investment Incentive Certificate were excluded from the surveillance measure for importation with the Communique on the Safeguard Measure for Imports published on January 26. This regulation will be valid as of August 31, 2021. The Investment Incentive Certificates for Samsung and Oppo were expected to be issued in January.
