TUESDAY 9AM

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany will announce the first quarter economic growth numbers. Germany’s economy shrank by 5% in 2020.

U.S. CONSUMER CONFIDENCE
TUESDAY 5PM

The Conference Board will announce May consumer confidence data. Consumer confidence in the U.S. jumped to a 14-month high in April to 121.7.

JAPAN UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
FRIDAY 2:30AM

The Japan Statistics Bureau will announce the April unemployment rate. Japan’s unemployment rate fell to 2.6% in March, while the number of unemployed people stood at 1.98 million.

EU CONSUMER CONFIDENCE
FRIDAY 12PM

The European Commission will announce May consumer confidence data. Consumer optimism in the Eurozone rose to -8.1 in April from -10.8 in March.

DOMESTIC DATA

SECTORAL CONFIDENCE INDICES
TUESDAY 11AM

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will announce the May sectoral confidence indices. Sectoral confidence in services, retail trade and construction fell by 2%, 5.6% and 3.1% in April, respectively.

CAPACITY UTILIZATION RATE
TUESDAY 10AM

The Central Bank will announce May capacity utilization rate data. The CUR rate increased by 1.2 points to 75.9 in April compared to the previous month.

REAL SECTOR CONFIDENCE INDEX
TUESDAY 10AM

The Central Bank will announce the May real sector confidence index. The index stood at 111 in April, up from 110.8 in March.

ECONOMIC CONFIDENCE INDEX
FRIDAY 10AM

Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will announce May economic confidence data. Economic confidence decreased by 5.1% to 93.9 in April, down from 98.9 in March.

ECO-POLITICS

CHP CENTRAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

The Republican People’s Party (CHP) Central Executive Board members are expected to gather on Monday with the participation of the party’s president Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

AKP GROUP MEETING

Justice and Development Party (AKP) MPs will gather on Wednesday. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to make statements regarding domestic and international political developments.

COUNCIL OF JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS ELECTIONS

The General Assembly is expected to hold the Council of Judges and Prosecutors elections this week. The political parties have come to an agreement regarding the elections. Four out of the seven members to be elected by the General Assembly will be from the People’s Alliance while the remaining three will be from the Nation Alliance.
