The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has begun production at its plant located in Gebze Guzeller Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) in Kocaeli, with a maximum capacity of 5 million units per year at the 12,000-square meter facility built with a total investment of USD 20m. Vivo also plans to locally employ over 2,000 people within three years in areas such as structural equipment design, electronics, software testing and quality control. The company officially launched operations in Turkey in August 2020. “We’ve initially completed the entry-level production of our Y11s and Y20 models at this facility,” said Ted Dai, the company’s Turkey general manager. “Vivo, which made a strong entrance into the country, maintains its innovative reputation in the smartphone market with its first facility in the country while it also provides Turkish users easy access to the innovative technology with local production,” said Gavin Wang, Turkey Production Director of Vivo.
