Turkish airports served more than 128.3 million passengers in 2021, according to figures released by the tate Airports Authority General Directorate (DHMI).
The figure is a 57% increase from the 81.7 million recorded in 2020.
Almost 68.5 million passengers flew domestically, while 59.7 million were on international flights.
Turkey’s airports received more than 1.4 million airplanes, including overflights. Almost 740,000 were on domestic routes and more than 460,000 on international ones.
Cargo traffic climbed to more than 3.4 million tons in 2021 — up 36% from 2.5 million the previous year.
