Turkey, which currently ranks sixth in the top 10 visited countries worldwide, may rise to second place after France in the European league next year, according to the Global Travel Report by the UK-based World Travel Market (WTM).
The report said Turkey played a role in the post-pandemic recovery of the European travel market. France, Spain, and Turkey are the top three countries with the highest number of visitors in Europe this year.
The report also predicted inbound trends for 2023 and showed that Spain, France, and Turkey would continue their growth trajectory, increasing value by 74%, 80%, and 72%, respectively.
The share of overnight stays in Turkey’s domestic tourism has risen from 68% in the pre-pandemic year of 2019 to 76% this year.
“We’re delighted to see that Turkey’s inbound and domestic market is booming,” said Juliette Losardo, Exhibition Director of World Travel Market London.
