President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening ceremony of the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Company (MKEK) Barutsan Rocket and Explosive Factory. “As a country, we’ve joined the ‘Super League’ in terms of next-generation explosive capabilities with the support of the Energetic Materials Production Plant,” Erdogan said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the factory. “We will no longer be dependent on imported aerial bombs, ammunitions, missiles and warheads,” said Erdogan, who was accompanied by Vice President Fuat Oktay and Minister National Defense Hulusi Akar. The modular gunpowder system that Turkey normally imports will be produced domestically at the new production plant, which was built with domestic resources.
