The online bus ticket booking platform Obilet was named the most-visited such website in the world, attracting around 15 million online visitors in January, according to a statement from the company.
The firm, Obilet, is also one of the top 10 most visited ticketing companies — including flight, train, and all-in-one ticket providers — globally, according to data from website traffic tracker SimilarWeb.
Obilet’s CEO Yigit Gurocak said the firm, founded in 2012, sought not only to hold its position as a leader in the sector, but also to get a place among the top five companies globally.
Stressing that Obilet is a leader in its field domestically, he said the firm is launching a multilingual website in a couple of months to sell bus tickets all over the world.
“Besides, we will have introduced our hotel booking and car rentals categories by the end of spring this year, as well,” he added.
With its 250-person team, Obilet is a platform on which today, hundreds of transportation companies sell their tickets.
It had previously been named by financial advisory firm Deloitte one of the fastest-growing tech start-ups in Turkey.
SimilarWeb data also showed that the top 15 travel ticketing platforms attracted a total of 400 million monthly visitors in January 2022, which is roughly double the traffic generated in January 2021.
