Mersin Agropark AS and the contracting company Akbaygrup Yapi AS have signed an agreement for the construction of the Mersin Agriculture-Food Technology Development Zone (Mersin Agropark), described as the first technopark specializing in agriculture and food in the country. Mersin Agropark will operate on a total area of 800,000 square meters in which companies and entrepreneurs operating in the agriculture and food industries will be clustered around 48 laboratories and offices in the first stage of the construction, which is to be completed in six months. “The country’s power in the agriculture sector will be increased and external dependence in agriculture and food industries will be reduced when Mersin Agropark becomes operational,” said Hakan Sefa Cakir, Chairman of the Board of Mersin Agropark.
