Operating in the defense industry with its Canik brand, Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) aims to penetrate the Brazilian market in South America and the Indonesian and Malaysian markets in Southeast Asia, according to Didem Aral, Foreign Trade Manager and Member of the Board of Directors of Samsun Yurt Savunma. The company currently exports small arms to 68 countries with an annual export volume of USD 120m. Samsun Yurt Savunma has focused on arms sales to civilians as well as police and military members in Brazil, after the ban on carry permit for civilians was lifted in 2019. “We set up our representative office in 2017 in Brazil,” said Aral. The company also closely follow tenders for police departments and military in Indonesia and Malaysia.
