MEDIA MARKT TO EMPLOY 500 WITH TRY 100M INVESTMENT

Media Markt will open 10 new stores with an investment of TRY 100m, creating jobs for 500 people, according to Yenal Gokyildirim, CEO of Media Markt Turkey. The technology retailer grew by 45% in Turkey in 2020 with the help of online sales, which increased by 400% during the year. “Digital channels generated 30% of the company’s turnover in 2020 and we aim to increase this share to 35% in 2021,” Gokyildirim said. Media Markt Turkey became the fastest growing branch of the group out of 13 European countries, he added. Media Markt Turkey currently employs 2,565 people at 80 stores in 7 provinces. “With the ‘delivery from store’ sales channel started during the pandemic, we recorded an additional turnover of 20%, while retail sales rose by 100% after reopening.”
