In June, exports decreased by 8.3 percent to USD 19.49 billion and imports decreased by 4.4 percent to USD 24.92 billion compared to the same period last year. Accordingly, the foreign trade deficit in June increased by 10.8 percent to USD 5.87 billion and was recorded as the lowest monthly deficit since September 2023.
According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, in the January-June 2024 period, exports were USD 126,28 billion, an increase of 2.6%, and imports were USD 168,87 billion, an 8.4% decrease compared with January-June 2023.
Energy products and non-monetary gold excluded exports and imports decreased by 9.4 percent, 2.7 percent, respectively in June 2024
Exports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were USD 17,58 billion with a 9.4 percent decrease in June 2024. Imports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were USD 19,31 billion with a 2.7 percent decrease in June 2024.
Foreign trade deficit, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, was USD 1,73 billion in June 2024.
Foreign trade volume was USD 36,9 billion with a 6.0 percent decrease. Energy products and non-monetary gold excluded export coverage imports was 91.1 percent.
In June 2024, foreign trade deficit was USD 5,87 billion with a 10.8 percent increase compared with June 2023. In June 2024, exports coverage imports was 76.4 percent, while it was 79.7 percent in June 2023.
The foreign trade deficit decreased by 30.5 percent in January-June 2024
In January-June 2024 period, foreign trade deficit was USD 42,6 billion with a 30.5 percent decrease compared with January-June 2023. In the same period, exports coverage imports was 74.8 percent, while it was 66.8 percent in January-June 2023.
