The country’s external gross debt stock amounted to USD 448.4bn in the first quarter of 2021, according to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
Stocks to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) ratio stood at 61.5% in the last quarter, the ministry said in a statement.
The figure was USD 431.3bn over the same period in 2020.
The country’s net foreign debt totaled USD 262.1bn as of the first quarter of 2021, some 36% of GDP.
Meanwhile, Treasury-guaranteed foreign debt stock reached USD 14.8bn in the same period.
Data showed that the EU-defined general government debt stock of the country was nearly TRY 2.1tr (USD 249bn), or 40.4% of the GDP as of end-2020.
The public net debt stock amounted to over TRY 1tr (USD 120bn) in the same period.
