The largest indoor and the most environmentally-friendly fair and congress center in the country will be built in Maltepe on the Anatolian side of Istanbul with an investment of EUR 650m, according to Ali Kilic, Mayor of Maltepe Municipality. The fair and congress center will employ 25,000 people. The project is designed to create economic value in the surrounding area. The Maltepe International Fair and Congress Center (M’EXPO Center) will cover an indoor space of 200,000 square meters and an open area of 250,000 square meters. “We’ll host major events for Europe and Turkey here,” said Kilic. In addition, a 750,000 square meter 18-hole golf course will also be built alongside the center, which is expected to generate electricity from solar power and rely on storm water, making it the first environmentally-friendly center in the country. The Germany-based Messe Munich will be a partner in the project as operator.
