Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has chosen Turkey as its production base. A production plant was rented from Sel Sealants in November, located in Firuzkoy, Avcilar district of Istanbul with an indoor area of 15,000 square meters. Xiaomi’s smartphone manufacturing and assembly processes will be carried out in the facility by Finland-based partner Salcomp with whom the brand signed a cooperation agreement in 2020. Salcomp relocated its headquarter to the new facility and will start domestic Xiaomi smartphone at the end of February. With an investment of USD 30m in the production plant, Turkey became the fourth country where Xiaomi will start production.
