The central government budget posted a deficit of TRY 95.5 billion in October.
In January-October period, central government budget deficit increased by 372 percent to TRY 608.1 billion when compared to previous year.
According to the data announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, budget expenditures increased by 85.2 percent year-on-year to TRY 569 billion 211 million in October, while budget revenues rose by 111.3 percent to TRY 473 billion 750 million.
The central government budget had posted a deficit of TRY 129.2 billion in September. Last month, primary deficit amounted to TRY 28 billion 651 million. And in January-October period primary deficit amounted to TRY 70.4 billion.
In October 2023, out of the TRY 5 trillion 589 billion 85 million appropriations for central government budget expenditures, TRY 569 billion 211 million was spent. In the same month of the previous year, TRY 307 billion 416 million was spent.
In the 10-month period, interest expenditures increased by 100 percent to TRY 537.7 billion. In October, tax revenues increased by 125.2 percent year-on-year to 409.4 billion liras.
VAT on imports and SCT revenues increased by 98.5 percent and 130.3 percent, respectively. In October, the interest, shares and fines item increased by 192 percent to TRY 44.8 billion. Central government budget revenues rose by 77.9 percent to TRY 3.9 trillion in the January-October period. Tax revenues increased by 85.3 percent to reach TRY 3.4 trillion.
