Penetrated into the Turkish market 3 years ago, global e-commerce platform Amazon extends its operations in Turkey with the increasing e-commerce volume. Carrying ‘prime’ service providing free and fast delivery to the country, Amazon has initiated to set up a new warehouse in the country. The company has agreed with Ceva Logistics to establish an operation center in Gebze province. Accordingly, Ceva Logistics will be responsible for product storage, stock management and distribution. Over 1,000 people will be employed in Gebze with the new investment.
Amazon also offers cargo service for suppliers after one year, when it penetrated into the country. The company has two warehouses in this context. Amazon protects products, packages and carries out cargo operations on behalf of suppliers with this service. Thus, the service, which operates with Turkish entrepreneurs in an integrated manner, supports the sellers under the roof of Amazon Turkey with an important part of the job. Amazon is also expected to make an investment in European side of Istanbul for fast delivery.
Moreover, Amazon Turkey penetrated into the supermarket field by opening food and beverage category. Thousands of different products are on the ‘shelves’ of the platform, from canned food to non-alcoholic beverages, from snacks to pasta and legumes.
Ceva Logistics, on the other hand, provides freight and supply chain solutions for large or medium sized national and international companies in the third-party logistics services. The company employs 78,000 people at more than 1,000 facilities in over 160 countries. Ceva Logistics has a wide range of services both in the contract logistics and freight management.
