According to the Gender Balance Index 2021, a ranking of global financial institutions to encourage best policies for women’s inclusion in every level of employment, compiled by the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF), Akbank ranks 5th after Australia and New Zealand Bank, JPMorgan, NatWest Group and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and first among emerging markets’ commercial banks. “We prioritize our work on gender equality and equal opportunities, taking full account of different individual features of Akbank employees,” said Suzan Sabanci Dincer, Chairman of Akbank. 53% of Akbank employees are women while women comprise 56% of teams in direct contact with customers. Moreover, women occupy 40% of tech-based positions while a significant percentage are employed in top level executive positions. The Gender Balance Index is considered an important reference point at the international level.
