The Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (PPK) convenes today. Majority of economists surveyed for the PPK estimate the policy rate to remain steady at 19%, although the interest rate cut possibility has reflected on pricing. Moreover, the Central Bank Governor Sahap Kavcioglu’s emphasis on core inflation is expected to be included in the PPK statement. The bank will announce the decision at 2.00 pm.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement at the UN General Assembly about ratification of the Paris Climate Agreement has been welcomed by the business world. Approval of the pact is expected to pave the way for changes in the country’s investment, production, and employment policies.
So far over 106.5 million coronavirus vaccine jabs has been administered. Some 53 million people have received their first doses, while more than 42.7 million are fully vaccinated.
