What matters on Monday, November 8

The week started with an investment news by Koc Group. The group plans to build an electric car battery factory with an investment of over USD 500m, according to daily DUNYA. The conglomerate will build production plant in Manisa, on which the German Volkswagen gave up its plans to establish a manufacturing facility. The negotiations with the relevant ministries regarding the allocation of the land near Manisa Organized Industrial Zone have been completed and an agreement has been reached, sources told Aysel Yucel of daily DUNYA. Kalyon Holding also established a company in Istanbul to produce batteries, according to sources.

The cabinet will convene under the presidency of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The COVID-19 will be the main agenda item of the meeting, where Health Minister Fahrettin Koca will make a presentation. Counterterrorism and recent foreign developments will also be discussed at the meeting.

The Parliament will work this week on the motion to extend the period of mission of Turkish troops in Azerbaijan and the legislative proposal including the 5th Judicial Package, which our parliament correspondent Canan Sakarya detailed at in the latest issue of TR MONITOR.

DAILY AGENDA

The Treasury will issue 13-month zero-coupon bonds.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance will publish figures on domestic debt rollover ratios, average cost and maturity (17.30).

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will attend the opening ceremony of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Initiative’s Geneva Office.
