Vodafone, which is redesigning its network in line with its ‘Tech2025’ strategy, has decided to establish a new generation innovation center in Istanbul. Vodafone aims to position Turkey as the center of excellence, according to Thibaud Rerolle, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Vodafone Turkey. New technologies such as Open Radio Access Network (OpenRAN) and Network-as-a-platform (NaaP) will be developed at the center. “We aim to pave the way for services supported by end-to-end software, increasing efficiency and service diversification as well as bringing flexibility and acceleration to 5G and Internet of Things networks with these technologies,” said Rerolle. The center, where 26 Turkish engineers will be initially employed, will play a role in supporting the local and national production ecosystem and development of general strategy and architecture of the telecommunication sector. The center will also lead other Vodafone countries to develop digital technologies of the future.
