The Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAIK) President Mehmet Ali Yacindag (R) said that the 39th American-Turkish Conference (ATC) to be held on June 21-22 will focus on Washington’s Turkey agenda.
The TAIK board of directors met with Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Myron Brilliant at a working breakfast during Brilliant’s first visit to Turkey in two years.
Speaking at the press conference held after the meeting on the agenda of the next ATC, Yalcindag said that all cyclical developments that impact the economy will be evaluated at the conference. “In-depth panels will take place on many fields such as defense and aviation, digital and green transformation, LNG, hydrogen, and infrastructure projects in third countries in the conference,” he said.
Bilateral trade between the U.S. and Turkey increased from USD 22bn to USD 28bn in just one year, he added. “Currently Turkey’s second largest export partner is the U.S. A 29% increase in annual trade volume and a 45% increase in Turkey’s exports to the U.S. is a serious success. The latest data show that we can achieve a trade volume of USD 40bn at the end of the year. This is proof that Turkey has a large share of the pie in the search for an alternative to China by U.S. companies.”
