AK Party Deputy Chairman Zafer Sırakaya stated that the Chinese are eager to create a production mechanism together with TOGG, Turkish electric vehicle manufacturer, and announced that negotiations have started between the Chinese company Guangzhou Automobile Group and TOGG for joint production.
Speaking to Reuters, Zafer Sırakaya, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Head of Foreign Relations, said that the Chinese Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) has been in talks with TOGG about joint electric automotive production and that they will visit TOGG in July.
Guangzhou manufacture autos for Toyota, Honda, Jeep and Mitshubishi as well in joint venture investments in China. Western auto manufacturers are obliged to found a joint venture to produce and sell in Chinese market.
Guangzhou Automobile Group is founded in 1955 and mainly produces cars and buses. GAC Group manufactures and sells vehicles under its own brand, such as Trumpchi, Aion, Hycan, and under foreign-branded joint ventures such as GAC-Toyota, GAC-Honda, GAC-FCA (Jeep) and GAC-Mitsubishi. It also produces electric vehicles, including specialty EV brands such as Aion and Hycan. GAC Group is China’s fifth-largest automaker with sales of 2,144,000 units by 2021.
