The UK Minister for the European Neighborhood Wendy Morton pays a visit to Turkey on July 28 in order to enhance humanitarian partnership and development, according to a statement from the British Consulate General Istanbul.
The UK Ministry of the European Neighborhood and Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop cooperation in reducing the risk of disasters. The parties will share innovative approaches and good practices within the frame of the MoU.
“It is a pleasure to continue strengthening our partnership, this time on humanitarian issues, by supporting Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency,” said Morton stressing that the UK and Turkey have a strong relationship as long-term NATO allies, members of the Council of Europe and the G20.
During her visit, Morton will also meet with his counterpart Deputy Foreign Minister Faruk Kaymakci to tackle various issues including cooperation on climate change while she will convey with Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy to discuss travel and culture issues.
