The number of paid employees reached 12,589,820 in January, according to the ‘Paid Employees Statistics’ prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) for the first time in order to reveal monthly number of paid employees besides sector indices.
Accordingly, the total number of paid employees in manufacturing, construction and trade-services sectors increased by 5.2% in January, compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of paid employees stood at 11,969,591 in January 2020.
Considering sub-sectors, the number of paid employees in the manufacturing sector annually rose by 8.4%, while it increased by 22.1% and 0.5% in the construction industry and the trade-services sector, respectively, in January 2021.
Monthly increase is 0.8%
The seasonally and calendar adjusted total number of employees increased by 0.8% in January 2021, compared to the previous month.
Considering the sub-sectors, the number of paid employees monthly rose by 0.8% in the manufacturing industry, while it increased by 1.4% and 0.8% in the construction sector and the trade-services industry, respectively. The sectoral data has been organized in accordance with the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community (NACE Rev. 2) in order to reveal the monthly number of paid employees besides sector indices, according to the statement from TurkStat.
