According to official data from the European Union, 200 thousand Turkish citizens’ visa applications were rejected in 2023, while visa rejection rates are expected to increase further in 2024.
European countries have thickened their visa walls against Turkish citizens. Approval rates for visa applications from countries such as Belarus, Russia, India, Morocco, China and Morocco have surpassed those from Turkey.
According to official figures from the European Commission, only Iranians have a higher visa rejection rate than Turkish citizens.
Turkey, which has applied for full membership to the EU and is a partner in the Customs Union, is getting tougher and tougher with its unjust visa restrictions on Turks, despite the Association Agreements signed with the European Union.
More than 16 percent of the 1 million 55 thousand 885 visa applications made to EU countries in 2023 were rejected.
In other words, about 200 thousand Turks were denied EU visas. Iranian citizens, whose rejection rate was 25.1 percent in 2022 and 30 percent in 2023, are worse than us in this area.
Turks were the second most rejected visa applicants in Europe. In 2024, the situation gets even worse. The post-Corona intensity, the economic crisis and illegal entries to Europe have led to an even stricter scrutiny of visas.
