The Adana-based SASA Polyester Sanayi AS will set up a new fiber production plant with an investment of USD 350m, according to a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). The new fiber facility will have an annual capacity of 367,500 tonnes. The investment will come into play simultaneously with the company’s USD 935m pure terephthalic acid (PTA) facility in 2023. External dependence of the textile industry will be reduced with the investment. SASA adopted another fiber production plant with a daily capacity of 1,050 tonnes in September 2020. The number of employees (4,250) is expected to exceed 6,000 when the new fiber production plant and PTA facility becomes operational in 2023. Thus, SASA’s turnover will exceed USD 3.5bn, depending on raw material prices.
