A total of 1.15 million motor vehicles for road use were registered in 2021, marking an 11.0% rise compared to 2020, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said on Wednesday.
The number of motor vehicles dropped by 11.2% to 42,924 in the same period.
A total of 65,562 road motor vehicles were registered in December, posting a 26.1% drop month-over month, TurkStat noted.
In December, cars accounted for 45.1% of total registrations, followed by motorcycles with 21.4%, small trucks with 17.8%, tractors with 10.7%, trucks with 3.8%, minibuses with 0.5%, buses with 0.5%, and special purpose vehicles with 0.2%.
In terms of the brands of registered cars, 15.7% were Renault in December, while 9.7% were Toyota, and 8.1% were Fiat.
