Electrical materials manufacturer Makel Elektrik will build a TRY 100m production plant in the Greater Noida Industrial Area, a planned city located in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The firm, which held talks with Surendra Singh, CEO of Greater Noida Authority, has requested an area of 50,000 square meters to set up the manufacturing plant.

“The company officials said India will need 250 million smart meters by 2025. That’s why they wanted to invest in India. If all goes well, the first unit of Makel Electric in the country will be set up in Greater Noida. Thus, thousands of youths will get employment opportunities here,” Singh said in an interview with the local media.

Makel Elektrik, which manufactures smart meters, LED switches, circuit breakers and smart home security automation products, is among the top 10 companies in the Asian, European and African markets in terms of turnover. The company exports to more than 70 countries and employs over 550 people.
