Karsan inks EUR 18.2m export deal

The bus manufacturer Karsan has inked a EUR 18.2m export deal with the Italian passenger transportation company TPER Bologna. The deal comes after a tender was opened for 31 18-meter electric buses for the public transportation system in Bologna.

As part of the contract, Karsan will deliver 24 electric e-ATA buses while an additional seven e-ATA buses will be an optional part of the deal.

“We’ve entered the Italian market with our e-ATA model following e-JEST and e-ATAK sales with this tender. This agreement is also important as it’s Karsan’s first 18-meter electric bus deal in Italy, after delivering these buses to Romania,” said Okan Bas, CEO of Karsan.

The company will also oversee the maintenance of the vehicles for 18 years.

“Next year, we will be serving all of Italy with our electric vehicles. With our new agreement, we will increase our electric vehicle fleet in Italy, which is 75 units as a result of past tenders, to 106 units by the end of next year,” Bas added.

The buses will be delivered in the last quarter of 2023.
