The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China’s (ICBC) Turkey operation ICBC Turkey has provided TRY 1m cash support to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) for earthquake victims following the two strong earthquakes which jolted southern Turkey on Monday.
The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in the Pazarcik district of Kahramanmaras, were felt by 13 million people across 10 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa.
“We are providing a TRY 1m support to meet urgent needs of people affected by the destructive earthquake centered in Kahramanmaras and affected 10 provinces, and teams conducting rescue operations under the severe winter conditions,” ICBC Turkey said in a statement.
“We believe that all kinds of support to be provided following such a disaster has vital importance. On this occasion, we express our condolences to those who lost their lives and wish injured people a quick recovery,” it added.
At least 12,873 people were killed and 62,937 others were injured in 10 cities after the two major earthquakes, according to AFAD.
