Turkish on-demand fast grocery delivery service, Getir, launched its London operations after raising USD 128m last month. Founder Nazim Salur announced the first international expansion in a tweet last week. “We will endear this twosyllable Turkish word there, too,” Salur said, referring to the delivery app’s name, Getir, which translates to “bring” or “get” in Turkish. Getir was valued at USD 850m in the recent round led by Base Partners of Brazil and Crankstart Investments of Michael Moritz, as well as Tiger Global, Goodwater Capital, Revo, Esas and Fiba Holdings. The 10-minute delivery app currently operates in 10 cities in Turkey, including Istanbul and the capital Ankara.
