The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide a EUR 12m loan to seed producer May Tohum, according to a statement from the EBRD.
The financing will be used by the company to expand its operations, renovate its manufacturing plants and R&D centers, and enhance the automation of R&D.
The loan will also strengthen May Tohum’s position in the country and export markets while it will help the firm to penetrate the new export markets.
Moreover, May Tohum will also develop and implement an EBRD-backed advisory project to provide technical and vocational training to local farmers who grow seeds.
May Tohum won a Gold Award for Gender and Inclusion in the EBRD’s 2021 Sustainability Awards.
The EBRD has invested more than EUR 16bn in Turkey through 376 projects, the majority of which have been in the private sector.
