The Italy-based gambling company Sisal S.p.A, which entered Turkey with a partnership with Demiroren Group, has been acquired by the Irish bookmaking holding company Flutter Entertainment for USD 2.2bn. With this acquisition, Flutter Entertainment has now penetrated the Turkish and Moroccan markets and Demiroren Group’s lottery partner has changed hands.
Sisal S.p.A, which decided to enter the Turkish lottery market with Demiroren Group in 2019, won the tender held by the National Lottery Administration under the umbrella of the Turkey Wealth Fund (TWF). Sisal-Sans Girisim Joint Venture, a joint venture of Sisal S.p.A and Demiroren Group, inked a 10-year service procurement deal based on profit sharing. The net 10-year revenue to be gained by the public sector was calculated at a minimum of TRY 28.1bn in 2019.
Ireland-based Flutter Entertainment, which owns gambling brands such as Betfair, SkyBet, and Poker Starts, previously announced that it would double its share to around 20% of the Italian online gaming market.
