The China-based e-commerce giant Alibaba Group plans to invest USD 2bn in Turkey in the upcoming period.
The announcement came after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Alibaba Group President Michael Evans and Trendyol Group President Caglayan Cetin.
Evans informed Erdogan about the planned investments and shared details with the President about new investments, such as the data center and logistics center in Ankara and the export operations center at Istanbul Airport.
Michael Evans said Alibaba Group has invested USD 1.4bn in Turkey through Trendyol thanks to its confidence in Turkey, which has the potential to be the top e-commerce country globally.
Evans also conveyed its support for the international growth strategy of Trendyol. President Erdogan also met with Tesla and SpaceX Founder Elon Musk. Erdogan called Musk to build the 7th Tesla factory in Turkey.
