Operating in the energy, construction, mining, textile, and finance sectors, Calik Holding has signed a contract with Afghanistan’s electricity company Da Afganistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) to undertake the expansion of the country’s Noor-ul-Jahad substation from 110 kilovolts to 220 kilovolts, according to a statement from DABS.
The contract was signed within the scope of the Trilateral Energy Sector Development Protocol signed by DABS, Calik Holding, and Turkmenistan’s Turkmen Energo delegations.
The project, to be undertaken by Calik Holding’s energy subsidiary Calik Enerji, includes a double-circuit energy transmission line.
The holding inked a USD 1.6bn energy deal with the former government of Afghanistan in 2018 to undertake the TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan) power transmission line project.
