Operating in the retail eyewear sector, Atasun Optik aims to double its turnover and to reach 500 stores in total by 2023, according to Nihat Aydin, its CEO. The company plans to launch 30 new stores with an investment of TRY 35m and to employ 100 people in 2021. The company also opened 22 new stores with an investment of TRY 20m and employed 85 people in 2020. Atasun Optik currently has 286 stores in 60 provinces. The country has a market size of TRY 5bn, in which optical glasses generate TRY 2.5bn and sunglasses create TRY 2.5bn. However, their usage stands at 15-20%, according to Aydin. “Our industry, which has great potential, can reach high growth if it makes the right choices over the next 5 years,” Aydin said.
