Arguden Governance Academy held the “A Decade on the Journey towards Governance Excellence” Seminars hosted by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) on February 14 with the attendance of TUSIAD President Orhan Turan, Arguden Governance Academy Chairman Dr. Yilmaz Arguden. Professor David R. Beatty, Aguden Governance Academy Advisory Board Member, was the keynote speaker of the event held under the theme of “Board of Directors and Artificial Intelligence (AI)” on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Arguden Governance Academy.
“Global institutions such as UN, G20, OECD, Council of Europe, and IFRS recognize the pioneering research and education programs developed by Arguden Governance Academy to improve quality of life and build a sustainable future,” Arguden said, adding that the Academy’s work targets public, private, and civil society organizations, as well as children and youth leaders to help build a culture of trust.
According to Orhan Turan, the technological transformation triggered by artificial intelligence is a strategic agenda for Turkish industries and senior managers of companies. Turan expressed his appreciation to Arguden Governance Academy for the “AI and Board of Directors” meeting, which is timely and valuable in developing Turkey.
Professor David R. Beatty Beatty described AI as an upcoming tsunami during his speech. He said coping with this tsunami must become a strategic priority for boards of directors and top management. Beatty also shared companies’ experiences that are rapidly reshaping their industries by adopting AI to the way they do their business.
Arguden Governance Academy will continue this series of Seminars throughout 2024 as video webinars in collaboration with Harvard Business Review Türkiye. The speakers include governance leaders such as Mervyn E. King, Sir Mark Moody Stuart, and Paul Polman.
