Akfen Holding Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Selim Akin stated that they will realize an investment of 910 million dollars in various fields in 2024 and 2025 and said, “We are planning to take corporate actions in our other subsidiaries or affiliates this year. In this context, we are considering offerings in debt and capital markets when appropriate windows open, and we plan to expand our stakeholder base.”
Akin, in his statement to AA within the scope of “Business World Conversations”, stated that Akfen Holding’s investment plans in renewable energy, port management, mining and tourism sectors continue to play an important role in Turkey’s investment-based economic structuring within the wide range of sectors in which they operate.
“In 2024, as a group, we will focus on starting our existing investments and completing the ongoing ones. We took the first steps towards the end of 2023 regarding the financing of these investments. Especially on the real estate investment side, the paid capital increase process we carried out in Akfen REIT will provide us with an opportunity to finance these investments” said Akin.
Investments to be completed in 2024
Stating that Akfen Renewable Energy accelerated its green energy investments at a time when the importance of sustainable and clean energy increased all over the world, Akin said that in this context, they started the construction of hybrid power plants in the wind power plant (WPP) areas in operation and increased their capacity in wind. Stating that they will realize 66.25 megawatts of hybrid solar power plants and 92.4 megawatts of additional wind investments and increase their installed capacity from 699 megawatts to 860 megawatts, Akin gave the following information: “As Akfen REIT, we will transform the area in our Sogutlucesme Train Station Viaduct Construction and Landscaping Project, which is currently under construction, into a food and beverage center with a concept that will be a first in Turkey. While our investments such as Bodrum Yalikavak Villa Project and Kiyikislacik Tourism Project continue under the roof of Akfen REIT, our new hotel investments in Tuzla in Istanbul and Esenboga in Ankara will be completed.”
