In Borsa Istanbul, 15,371 investors with a portfolio of TRY 10 million or more own 80 percent of the total portfolio of TRY 4.16 trillion in the stock market. Meanwhile, 56 percent of investors have a portfolio of less than TRY 10,000.
The distribution of investors in Borsa Istanbul according to their portfolio size reveals a huge gap between large and small investors. According to data from the Central Registry Agency (MKK), the total portfolio size of 15,371 people with a portfolio size of 10 million or more in the stock market is TRY 3.32 trillion.
The total portfolio size of TRY 4.16 trillion in the stock market revealed that the investors holding 79.81 percent of the total portfolio were only 0.2 percent of the total 7.6 million investors.
