The total number of passengers carried by the national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) dropped by 45% to 3.6 million in June, compared to the same month of 2019, according to a statement from the company to the Public Disclosure Platform. THY carried 6.6 million passengers in June 2019 before the pandemic. The company’s passenger occupancy rate reached 68.3% in June 2021. The total number of passengers, which hit 35.1 million in January-June 2019, fell to around 14.6 million in the same period of this year. THY’s passenger occupancy rate declined by 17.7 points to 62.4% in January-June 2021, compared to the same period of 2019.
